A question was posed to the retailers around the country that which watch brands and price points are selling well?
From North East
- Debbie Honey, Steckel's Jewelry, Bangor, Pa, said, "We carry Pulsar and Seiko. This is a rural community, and our farmers love their stretch-band watches in the $89 to $100 range."
- Barbara Barbe, Brown's Jewelry and Gift Store, Thurmont, Md, says, "We sell Seiko, and they run from $150 to nearly $800, but we sell mostly up to $300."
From South East
- Layne Gautreau, Layne's Jewelry and Designs, Gonzales, La, said, "The lowermost price points sell best, and for us, that's Fossil. In our mid-range, we sell Belair private label and Cyma at the high end."
- Kissy Tuten, Cunningham Jewelers, Brunswick, Ga, said, "Seiko's higher-priced watches sell best for us; Seiko has a more expensive line now, with some pieces as high as $1,700."
From Midwest
- Bill O'Brien, Moyer Fine Jewelers, Carmel, Ind, said, "We're still doing well with TAG Heuer from $1,000 to $3,000, and Swiss Army from $495 to $795. It's slower at the upper end, but cult brands like Ernst Benz and Bell and Ross still have their adherents."
- Les Christen, Smith Jewelry, Huron, S.D. said, "For us, the cheaper, the better. They are in a throwaway mindset here. We do well with Black Hills Gold watches, and with Speidel, in the $30 to $50 range."
- Mike Donovan, Bentley Donovan Fine Jewelry, Scottsbluff, Neb said, "Our main line is Belair with our own logo on it, at $150 up to $800. Belair stands by their product, and we get triple key."
From South Central
- Terry Adams, Adams and Co., Hot Springs National Park, Ark said, "I only handle Bulova and pre-owned Rolex, and surprisingly enough, the Rolexes are doing better. People always have a price point in mind, but it varies from customer to customer."
- Shirley Chandler, Chandler Jewelers, Albuquerque, N.M. said, "Bulova and Caravelle do best, at about $300 and $100, respectively. Our customers appreciate Bulova's selection of styles."
From West
- Ken Jacobs, Wanna Buy A Watch?, Los Angeles said, "For both vintage and modern, our best brand is Rolex. Those customers are not collectors, but brand-conscious consumers, and they get good value, selection, constant turnover and a good buy on a guaranteed product."
- Bob Bonaci, Bonaci Fine Jewelers, Kent, Wash said, "The digital revolution is killing watches, although older people still buy them: Citizen and Belair, mostly under $500."
- Ted Blohm, Blohm's Jewelers, Elko, Nev, said, "We mainly carry Seiko, and our best prices are $150 to $200 for ladies, and $300 to $395 for men."

Largest Steelers’ 2008 championship ring
Yet another NFL history was made when the Pittsburgh Steelers downed the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII last year, snagging a record-setting sixth Super Bowl title. The Steelers’ largest super Bowl bauble till date was the championship right crafted by Minneapolis, Minn. based Jostens.
According to a release from Jostens, the rings contain 63 round brilliant cut diamonds totaling 3.61 carats. The basic idea behind the design which was created by Jostens and the team officials was to reflect the success story of the Steelers’ 2008 season and the history of the organization.
The six round brilliant cut diamonds appear on the top of the ring, each representing the Steelers’ Super Bowl victories. The Steelers logo was crafted using colored gemstones, Jostens spokesman Rich Stoebe said that the Steelers did not release the information on what type were used.
At each tip of ring there are seven diamonds representing the number of American Football Conference (AFC) Championships won and the other 14 stones signify the number of Division titles the Steelers history. The ring also features the official Super Bowl XLIII logo on a field of green enamel and six Lombardi Trophies rising from Heinz Field to signify the support and loyalty of the Steelers' fans.
The ring is shed in 14 carat yellow gold on a black background, a nod to the team’s colors. The opposing side of each ring is personalized with each player’s name and number. The president of Steelers, Art Rooney II and Jostens Chief Executive Officer, Tim Larson said that the easy partnership between the two organizations has resulted in the crafting of this remarkable ring.
"Our Super Bowl XLIII ring is going to be cherished as a symbol of the team's outstanding accomplishments during the 2008 season," Rooney said in the release. "We appreciate the great work Jostens put into making this ring one of the most spectacular in NFL history."
The spokesperson Stoebe said as of now neither Jostens nor the Steelers was releasing the details on the price, cost or appraisal value of the rings. Jostens Website shows that the company has been responsible for designing five of the six championship rings won by the storied Steelers franchise. Super Bowl X is the only championship for which Steelers' players don't sport a Jostens design.
Jostens released that the ring was created in its Denton, Texas facility and was delivered to Pittsburgh for a private player ring ceremony on June 9.
Unfortunately, another pending championship for the city overshadowed the presentation of the rings to the players. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the ceremony was moved up and some players scooted out early to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins play the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals that night.
The Penguins eventually ended up winning the Stanley Cup in seven games. there is no information till date that which company will get to design Pittsburgh's second professional championship ring of the year.

Wedding Rings? No more a hard decision!
WEDDING DECISIONS!! which ones are to be made? Well, the couple into this have already taken care of the hard part. They somehow made it to this far. I say this because in today's world, where everybody tries to live life their own way, relationships can become tough to be managed. With Women wanting to stick to their professional careers and getting less time for household chores and men, although can take care of the house, choosing to be with their age old careers; its not surprising to see an alarming increase in the rate of divorces. Now in such a tight situations, Commiting yourself with someone to spend the rest of the life with him or her is the hardest decision. So thats why, if the wedding is fixed, then the hard part is done.
Well ofcourse we have not yet reached the stage where we find no one lasting their relations forever. We do see many couples sticking to one another for their entire life thus standing firm on their oath. But if you seriously look at their relationship, you will find that one of them have learnt to sacrifice certain things in life so that the relationship goes on forever. Yes, thats right, and most of the times its the woman who does that. Giving up her career, education, her dreams just to ensure a proper family life. Amazing sacrifice that certainly requires appreciation. Therefore, once the commitment is made up,all things look bright for the future.
So what is the next step? Well these committed couples would one day have to finally tie the knot and get into the bond of marraige. This might take time to happen, but finally it does happen. And for such occasions to happen, at some point during the whole setup, one may require to give a wedding ring to other as a mark of love and commitment towards each other. This decision also is not an easy to take, that is, which wedding ring to buy!
Wedding rings are sold in just about all high-street jewellery shops, stores and on various websites across the internet. The choices are enormous and retailers are now aware of the importance and fragility of the decision that needs to be taken to choose the right one. Whoever makes the decision has to be sure that their loved one will more or less fall instantaneously in love with the wedding ring presented to them. This is because giving your loved one a wedding ring is the greatest symbol of love.
Therefore, Choosing the right wedding ring is very important. Today, companies spend more and more dollars on advertising their products to meet the customer needs and to attract them towards them.Wedding rings come in various materials including gold, silver and platinum, various stones including round, square, emerald and princess, and also come in various styles including eternity, three stone and solitaire. Companies that split these and other product choices into distinct categories will surely be the most likely to succeed in business.
So the decision is altogether made easier by the retailer and as such the consumer can shop for their theoretically perfect ring. You may visit physically to any jewelry store, or simply shop online, the choise if yours. It doesn't matter if the wedding ring isn't really expensive, like the one David Beckham gave to Victoria Beckham on their wedding day. It is a symbol of love and should come from the heart of the people in love.
